The enigmatic artist formerly known as Buddy Lackey of progressive metallers Psychotic Waltz, reinvents himself as Devon Graves, the mastermind behind Dead Soul Tribe. Aside from sharing the same front man, both bands share a common thread by producing modern, carefully composed progressive metal with complex arrangements.

"A Murder of Crows" takes a more aggressive track than the previous Dead Soul Tribe release. At times the album has a brooding heavy menace about it and then switches to fragile acoustic moments accompanied by flute.
